Newly Self-Employed
Prospect Mortgage Services provide independent, sound and honest advice for your mortgage and protection needs.
Over the years, we’ve helped countless numbers of newly self-employed people — sole traders, limited company owners, side-hustlers, creative geniuses, and probably a few accidental entrepreneurs who just meant to sell one thing on Facebook Marketplace.
Problem being – when applying for a mortgage, most lenders want two years’ accounts.
But as Independent mortgage brokers, we can access lenders who are happy with one year, provided everything stacks up sensibly.
Recently, we helped a couple who’d had set themselves up as self-employed, a Partnership to be precise.
The plan was simple: 1) Get a proper accountant. 2) Produce one year of shiny, well-prepared accounts. 3) Bring them to us the minute they’re ready.
They did exactly that, keen as mustard… paperwork collated and prepared, waiting at the accountant’s door to file their accounts in the first week of April.
On receipt of the accounts paperwork from the accountant, we submitted the application immediately, and the mortgage offer followed shortly after. As smooth as a pebble that’s spent its whole life at the beach!
If you ask them now, they’ll tell you: When you’re self-employed, having a broker who helps you plan ahead isn’t just helpful… It’s everything!
