He and his family needed a mortgage but didn’t have a UK passport. We had work visa’s to use, which permits occupancy for a set period in the UK.
Most lenders said no. But we are stubborn and our take on it is that we only need one lender to say yes. However, just to keep things interesting, it turns out that their ideal home was not being sold in the normal fashion. They were buying via modern auction and they were a few weeks in already — meaning tight timelines, zero room for delay, and a mild sense of adrenaline for everyone involved, due to the upfront payment involved. The mortgage-world equivalent of a penalty shootout – spicy.
Despite a couple of survey hiccups, we got it offered in time.
They completed. They moved in.
